Essential German Uniform List
What a rekruit needs to take to the field
|So you've decided to join the ranks of the German Army. The following list and the accompanying descriptions are not comprehensive. It is
short and quick, covering only the minimal you need to get to the field. It is designed to save you money and aggravation! If it is not on this
list, wait, don't buy it! CONSULT with the SQUAD LEADER beforehand! Focus on what you need.
|THE BASIC ALPENKORPS JÄGER UNIFORM:
1910 or 1914 (SIMPLIFIED) TUNIC: Field gray with short turnback sleeves:
Jager green waffenfarbe (branch) on collar, front flap and shoulderboards.
OPTIONAL TUNIC: The M-1916 Bavarian Bluse, with "field gray"collar
TROUSERS: Stone gray uniform pants. Brown/Gray Corduroy OK.
SHIRT: White collar-less or civilian checkered pattern.
VISORLESS CAP: green trim w/ R & B Cockades & Edelweiss cap badge
(visored cap or mountain/ski cap is authorized)
LEG PUTTEES: These were used throughout the war, worn over the calf as
MOUNTAIN or LOW BOOTS: 3/4 ankle boot, black or brown leather,
BELT & BUCKLE: Bavarian buckle, black/dark brown rough-out leather belt
|THE TOTAL COST FOR THIS ENTIRE OUTFIT: Around $800.00
|Uniforms are available from three reliable and recommended VENDORS:
HESSEN ANTIQUE: A vendor that sells almost everything you for uniform needs.
SCHIPPERFABRIK: Another excellent vendor for uniforms & gear. VERY LONG
WAIT FOR UNIFORMS! ORDER MONTHS BEFORE A TRENCH
AT THE FRONT: A WWII German vendor that sells correct low boots for.
Correct rough-out brown leather uppers and hobnails are already attached.
When money is tight: Buy the uniform set!
You can also buy your uniform piece by piece as you can afford it.
WARNING: Don't buy uniforms from "unknown" and "unapproved" vendors.

|This is a 1907 Pioneer Tunic from Hessen Antique
modified by a local seamstress to become a Jäger Tunic by
swapping out the black & red piping for Jäger green.
Note the Swedish Cuffs w/corresponding buttons.
