Minimum Uniform Requirements for 35th ID G.I. These are the basic items needed for the "average" G.I. enlisted man (E.M.) in the European Theater of Operations (E.T.O.)  Any deviation must be approved by the Unit C/O.

Overseas Cap (Garrision Cap, O.D. wool)

E.M. Service Cap (Optional)

E.M. Wool Shirt, M-1938

E.M. Wool Pants, M-1937 with trouser belt, o.d.

Field Service Hat (Campaign Hat), worn for early war impressions

M-41 Field Jacket

Three Types of Boots M-1943 Buckle Boot(No Leggings Required, Late War Only), Roughout Boot and Garrison Boot (worn most scenarios)

An Alternative Uniform is the cotton, Olive Drab (O.D. = green) HERRINGBONE TWILL  ("HBTs") Jacket & Pants (Light or Dark Shade) This UNIFORM was worn stateside & in all THEATERS of the war as a "fatigue" (work detail) uniform OR as a "combat" uniform for extreme HOT WEATHER in North Africa, Sicily / Italy & the Pacific Theater. NOTE: "Occasionally" in NORTHERN EUROPE (Normandy, France or the Siegfried Line, Germany) the HBT was worn over the wool uniform (for added warmth & to keep the wool service/combat uniform clean)!

WHAT DOES F.A.R.B or F.A.R.B.Y. MEAN?

F.A.R.B. is an acronym that means: "FAR BE IT FROM AUTHENTIC". What this essentially stands for is a person, thing, or place that does NOT represent the correct material, quality, speech, mannerisms, construction/design that was not invented or produced during the time frame which is to be historically represented. TO BE A FARB is to be unauthentic, unnatural, and disrespectful for a person who is "reenacting" & honoring the W.W. II soldier. NOTE: Although some allowances are made for public events, many purist reenactors strive to "recreate" the atmosphere and experience of the 1940's and so when at events, they do not talk about computers, or DVDs, or current movies, or drink/eat out of modern plastic/aluminum containers. "C" Co., 1st Battalion, 134th Infantry (35th ID) is currently attempting to eliminate all elements of FARBism from all their TACTICAL EVENTS! This will be done to ensure the maximum "realistic" experience for our members.
